ACTMegalodon Campaign Backdoors 5,700+ GitHub Repositories via Injected CI Workflows

An automated campaign dubbed Megalodon pushed 5,718 malicious commits to 5,561 GitHub repositories in a six-hour window, injecting GitHub Actions workflows with encoded payloads designed to exfiltrate CI secrets, cloud credentials, SSH keys, and OIDC tokens to a command-and-control server. The attack cascaded into npm via poisoned publishes of the tiledesk-server package, and defenders are advised to revert May 18 commits from identified bot accounts, rotate all secrets exposed to Actions runners, and audit workflow files immediately.

PREPAREZscaler to Acquire Symmetry Systems to Extend AI Agent Security Capabilities

Zscaler announced its intent to acquire Symmetry Systems, which maps how human and non-human identities, applications, and data connect across the enterprise — providing the access-graph visibility needed to govern how AI agents communicate with applications and data at scale. The combined platform will integrate Symmetry's access graph into Zscaler's Zero Trust Exchange to enable policy enforcement over AI agent-to-application communication; financial terms were not disclosed and the deal is expected to close imminently.

WATCHUS Commerce Department Awards $2 Billion to Nine Quantum Computing Firms, Takes Equity Stakes

The US Department of Commerce announced $2 billion in grants to nine quantum computing companies funded through the CHIPS and Science Act, taking minority, non-controlling equity stakes in each recipient; IBM receives $1 billion and will match it with its own $1 billion investment in a new quantum chip manufacturing company called Anderon in Albany, NY, while D-Wave, Rigetti, Infleqtion, and PsiQuantum each receive up to $100 million. Shares of recipient companies rose between 6% and 31% on the announcement, reflecting investor recognition of sustained federal commitment to quantum as a national security and economic priority.

PREPAREGoogle Introduces Agent Executor: Open-Source Distributed Agent Runtime

Google released Agent Executor (AX), an open-source runtime standard designed for reliable execution of long-running, distributed agent workflows, featuring durable execution with automatic resumption after outages, secure sandbox isolation, session consistency via a single-writer architecture, connection recovery, and trajectory branching via checkpoints. Google simultaneously launched Agent Substrate in partnership with Google Kubernetes Engine to optimize compute efficiency for large-scale agentic deployments, and positions Agent Executor as harness-agnostic and interoperable with LangChain, ADK, and the Agent2Agent (A2A) protocol.
